GENTOFTE

The municipality of Gentofte is located immediately north of Copenhagen and borders the municipalities of the City of Copenhagen, Gladsaxe and Lyngby-Taarbæk. Approximately 70,000 people live in Gentofte, of which 6.5% are foreigners. There are some 32,000 housing units in Gentofte, of which about 1/3 are villas and the remainder flats.

The income tax base is one of the highest in Denmark and the municipal tax rate is among the lowest in the country. The municipality does not levy reimbursement duty. The land tax percentage rate is the lowest permissible under the law. There are 11 primary schools, 7 private schools and an international school.

Gentofte is a business-friendly municipality with the focus on businesses that provide services for its people. The municipality also encourages businesses that create workplaces for people living in Gentofte and businesses whose staff plan to settle there.

The area where the Tuborg brewery was formerly located has been extensively transformed in recent years and now offers limited opportunities for new, non-residential construction. Otherwise the municipality is fully developed and does not have available large tracts of land for the establishment of new businesses.
